ICON founders Dave Eaton and John Hartland are specialist automotive engineers with a combined experience spanning over 80 years, focused on global brands including Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini and McLaren.
Their dream to own their own 917 started over 50 years ago when they witnessed Pedro Rodriguez win the BOAC 1,000km at Brands Hatch in his Gulf Porsche 917k. Having been inspired ever since, Dave became a highly-accomplished automotive design engineer. In August 2011, he came across a set of visually-correct Porsche 917 body clips, produced from moulds taken from David Piper’s Porsche 917/10 race car.
Together with his long-time friend and supercar technician John Hartland, they combined their experience, high-tech skill sets and hand-building craftsmanship to build a fully bespoke, reverse-engineered Porsche 917 recreation.
And that's how ICON Engineering was born.
Since then, ICON have appeared in issues of GT Porsche, Octane and 911 & Porsche World - as well as on various YouTube channels and appeared at events across the country.

The use of simple navigation and crisp, clean colours marry up with the retro design of the 917 itself perfectly.
